Why we built a directory
Creatives in Folkestone are working in isolation, unaware of potential collaborations around the corner.
We've heard one too many "wait, you do what? I've been looking for someone who does that forever!"
People have been doing and making and showing up all along, but good luck trying to find them. They were scattered across social media, informal group chats, and segregated directories. Meanwhile, businesses were hiring from London and beyond because they didn't know there's a great illustrator two doors down.
Until now.
How do I use it?
🦄 If you're a creative
Search the directory by creative skill, or sign up to be listed yourself (it's free). On occasion, we send out a newsletter to members, with opportunities and invites to events, some of which we co-host.
👔 If you're a business or organization
Find the person you'd like to work with in the directory, and follow the link in their profiles to contact them directly. And you're welcome to email us if you have opportunities for our members.
Who's in the directory?
Some of the people we list include writers, painters, photographers, producers, illustrators, designers, performers, musicians, crafters, chefs, filmmakers, and many working across disciplines.
We vet each new member to keep the the directory free from bots, agencies, spam, or malicious actors. Every profile is free to create and free to browse. There are currently no ads, paid listings, or hidden fees.
Who's behind it?
We're a small collective of volunteers who believe Folkestone's creative community deserves to be visible, connected, and celebrated. folks.directory is our attempt to make that happen.
How can I support you?
